Mediation Services

Did you know that SERB provides free mediation services and labor-management cooperation training? Services include interest based training and facilitation as well as traditional bargaining and grievance mediation by experienced staff (click here for staff biographies) . Whether the parties are negotiating their first contract or their tenth, there are times when the assistance of a mediator makes the difference in avoiding the time and costs associated with Fact Finding and Conciliation. Interest based problem solving training can also help the parties improve labor management relations and committee effectiveness.

2015 SERB Academy
The Ohio State Employement Relations Board

SERB Academy is for newcomers to public-sector collective bargaining. New managers or new employee organization officials, staff, and those who are or will be working in positions where they need to know how Ohio’s law governs labor relations in the public sector.

SERB Academy is an intensive two-day review of representation, dispute settlement, and unfair labor practice matters, covering the law, the administrative rules, and the day-to-day procedures of the agency. Presentations are by administrators and staff who speak from the perspective of daily experience. Materials are designed to give you easy access to the provisions of the law and the rules you need to consult.

SERB Academy is the fastest way we know to get up to speed on Ohio’s Public Sector Collective Bargaining Law.

Ohio Public Sector Fact-Finding

This 2015 Conference on Ohio Public Sector Fact-Finding will bring together as presenters and as participants, professionals who are part of the Fact-Finding process. It will include representatives of labor and management, neutrals who preside as fact-finders, staff of the State Employment Relations Board under whose jurisdiction the fact-finding is conducted, and attorneys whose practice includes representing the parties at fact-finding.
